Semasa, di Kota Tua

If you are in the Kota Tua area, I recommend you to visit Semasa Cafe and Shop! Semasa Cafe was located at the third floor of the old building which was mostly covered in white walls and red bricks. I was not surprise at all, since it's been standing there for over one hundred years, being the house to an insurance company in the Dutch-Colonial era called OLVEH.

One word for Semasa Cafe is simplicity. This cafe is not too big, perhaps only quarter-size of the whole third floor. The bar was on the left side, where there were some small round benches that you can sit in front of the bar. In the middle of the cafe, there was a special table featuring products sold by Semasa Cafe. On the right side, you will find two small round tables with benches that are the same size and shape as the table. And at the very back of the cafe, there was a wooden dining table with five chairs surrounding it.

The good thing about Semasa is putting a big windows on the right wall, so that we can enjoy the views of of old Dutch buildings, busy cars and people who travelling by train or busway. Dreamily imagine the busy area in the era of "noni" and "meneer" Netherlands, I enjoyed the tea drink that I have ordered before. Oh yeah, every purchase of one drink, you will get typical Indonesian cookies such as Nastar and Sagu Keju.

Indeed, I really like the atmosphere created by Semasa. Unlike other cafe that seem busy, when you enter the cafe, it feels like everything around you has slowed down.
